  • Outcome is a new dark comedy directed by Jonah Hill, starring Keanu Reeves and Cameron Diaz
  • Apple TV announced that the movie will premiere globally on April 10, 2026
  • The film follows a Hollywood star as they confront their past to try and make amends after being blackmailed

Jonah Hill directing, writing, and starring in a new comedy is enough to grab anyone’s attention. Add in Keanu Reeves, Cameron Diaz, Matt Bomer, and Kaia Gerber, and Outcome becomes a new movie that’s impossible to ignore.

Even better, the film now has an official premiere date after Apple TV revealed today that Outcome will debut globally on April 10, 2026, marking one of the best streaming service's first film releases of the year.

Known for starring in comedies like 21 Jump Street, Hill has become a Hollywood A-lister synonymous with the genre, making any new project in the space a surefire way to draw in fans. The only catch? Outcome isn’t a straight-up comedy, as it looks more like a light-hearted drama with dark humor.

No trailer has yet been publicly revealed, but Apple TV did give an exclusive preview of it to press that teased several cameos, including Martin Scorsese and Drew Barrymore, to name a couple. Another standout from the trailer is the film's highly saturated color palette, which you can catch a glimpse of from the first-look images below.

So far, we know Outcome looks like a bright and sunny watch, has some major talent attached to the project, and is scheduled to be released on April 10, but what is the dark comedy all about?

In Hill's own words, Outcome is about "the world's biggest movie star Reef Hawk who's hiding dark secrets about his life that would ruin his perfect career". He told press at an Apple TV event that "when a video threatens to leak, exposing these secrets, Reef's crazy lawyer Ira, who's played by me," goes into crisis management mode.

You can probably already guess who plays the beloved Hollywood star that the movie centers on. Of course, Reeves is Reef, who ends up going on a soul-searching journey to make amends with anyone he might have wronged in the hope of unmasking who the blackmailer is.

It's this part of the movie's plot that makes it more of a drama, as the official synopsis says that Reef dives into the depths of his "hidden demons" to stop the mysterious video from ruining his career and shattering his public image.

Diaz, who plays Reef's lifelong friend Kyle, said that "the journey to find out who's extorting him" sets the stage for a spiritually cleansing trip down nostalgia. "The encounters prove to be deep and enlightened, and hilarious of course," she said.

From what the cast has shared, the movie's emotional core tackles some big themes around vanity, self-love, and technology. "The movie uses fame as a metaphor for what we all go through living on social media. Social media has made us obsessed with what people we don't know thinks of us, instead of caring about what the people who care about us think of us," Hill said.
