Previous Page Next PageDoctor Caitlin Todd (Caroline Harker) is taken to the police station for questioning in tomorrow’s episode of Emmerdale, after sexually assaulting Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins).
Doctor Todd took advantage of Charity after piling pressure on her about the money she’s been waiting for. The wicked woman has been blackmailing Charity over baby Leyla’s parentage, and has spent the past few weeks telling her that she’ll only keep quiet if she’s given £100,000.
After stealing some items from the depot, Charity gave Caitlin £30k, but fear ran through her veins once more when Doctor Todd warned her that if the remaining cash didn’t appear within 24 hours, she’d reveal the secret at Sarah Sugden’s (Katie Hill) 21st birthday party.
Charity then hit the bottle and tried to ignore all of her problems. This made her particularly bold and, during a confrontation with Caitlin, she told her to go right ahead and tell Sarah the truth.

This made Doctor Todd feel as though she wasn’t in control of the situation. She proceeded to wait for Charity to pass out as a result of the booze, and then sexually assaulted her.
In the initial aftermath, Charity went to the police station and reported the crime. She was questioned by DS Reid (Angela Lonsdale), and then had a physical examination to collect evidence.
DS Reid told Charity that Caitlin would be arrested on suspicion of sexual assault, and she was taken aback to discover that what happened to her would legally be classed as this, and not rape.

As someone who never likes to admit when she’s in the wrong, is Doctor Todd going to really confirm that Charity’s allegation is true in her interview, or will she make something up to cover her back?

And how will it impact Charity, who is already struggling to work out if she should tell her loved ones?
Producer of the show Sophie Roper discussed the important storyline and said: ‘Charity’s storyline will explore the impact of sexual violence, and though this heinous act is fundamentally about power, we’ll explore the complexities of how Charity processes her trauma when the perpetrator is a woman.
‘With little conversation surrounding female-on-female assault, we’ll explore the overwhelming feelings of isolation many survivors experience and will examine the disparity between the legal term sexual assault and the fact that many women in Charity’s position feel this minimises what’s happened to them, because they feel like they’ve been raped.
