Previous Page Next PageThe official trailer for the Legally Blonde prequel series has finally arrived, and it looks just as fabulous as I hoped it would.
If you thought that Reese Witherspoon’s pink shoes would be hard to fill, you’re absolutely right.
But judging from the brand new trailer released by Amazon Prime, the show’s bubbly lead star Lexi Minetree is going to do a dazzling job.
As everyone who’s seen Legally Blonde knows, Elle goes on to become a bigshot lawyer, a legal force you wouldn’t want to face in court. But how does she reach that moment?
The trailer for Elle opens with our favourite blonde heroine hosting a party, telling her friends she ‘wouldn’t change a thing’ about her picture perfect life in Bel-Air 1995.
Shortly afterwards, her world is turned upside down when her parents, played by Tom Everett Scott and June Diane Raphael, reveal that they’re moving to a Seattle, a far cry from her glamorous life in LA.

The Law and Order: SVU actress possesses quality comedic timing as she tells her parents when they tell her the big news that she isn’t moving to the Emerald City because ‘it doesn’t sound right’.
Lexi’s naive yet determined demeanour is the perfect balance for her portrayal of Elle, who ends up in all sorts of comical predicaments when she brushes shoulders with people from very different walks of life.
Some fans were worried that Elle moving cities would be too similar to the film, as yet again, she’s depicted as a fish out of water.
Nonetheless, I think that the trailer proves that this won’t be a problem.

Much like her time at the Ivy League school, Elle is an outsider when she arrives in the grungy town of Seattle, where punk rock thrives and pink rucksacks don’t.

As we see Elle attempt (unsuccessfully) to fit in by wearing a bedazzled Nirvana top and braiding the front two strands of her hair, we’re reminded that she’ll never lose her LA roots.
The newly dropped trailer has created a splash online, with fans like @irieb28 on YouTube admitting that they’re ‘so excited’ for the series to arrive on July 1.
Others expressed how happy they are that the original Elle Woods, Reese, is an executive producer on the show and was one of the people who approved Lexi’s casting to follow in her footsteps.
‘Reese approved so I’ll give it a chance,’ @relientkenny wrote on X.

However, some fans have been left feeling concerned that the plot feels too similar to the movie.

Elle Key Details
Creator: Laura Kittrell
Cast: Lexi Minetree, June Diane Raphael, Tom Everett Scott, Jacob Moskovitz, Gabrielle Policano, Chandler Kinney, Zac Looker and Amy Pietz
Synopsis: We meet her in 1995 as a fish in the tumultuous waters of high school where she encounters tricky friendships, forbidden romance, and questionable fashion choices. Through it all, Elle uses her family as a touchstone, and forms an even tighter bond to her mother, proving that they can get through anything life throws their way as long as they have each other. With each challenge she faces, Elle grows closer to the Elle Woods we know and love today.
Episodes: 8
Where to watch: Prime Video
But this is where I disagree, as I think this backstory gives Elle more depth and proves that, realistically, we have to learn things multiple times for them to really stick.

To me, the series looks suitably chic, appropriately glossy, and like there’ll be plenty of genuinely funny moments peppered in amongst this coming-of-age classic, reimagined for a different audience.
Perhaps I’m biased because Elle is a Gemini like me, but I think this series has the power to surprise us all.
